Goodreads Description:
Luke Grayson’s life might as well be over when he’s sent to live with his Baptist pastor father in rural Tennessee after getting kicked out of his DC private school. His soulless stepmother is none too pleased to have him, and Luke’s bad boy status has done him no favors with his new principal or the local police chief. He’s also an easy target for Grant Parker, the local golden boy with a violent streak, who has the community of Ashland under his thumb and Luke directly in his crosshairs.
But things go topsy-turvy when, after a freak accident, Luke replaces Grant at the top of the social pyramid. This fish out of water has suddenly gone from social outcast to hero in a matter of twenty-four hours. For the students who have lived in fear of Grant all their lives, this is a welcome change. But Luke’s newfound fame comes with a price. Nobody knows the truth about what really happened to Grant Parker except for Luke, and the longer he keeps living the lie, the more like Grant he becomes.
Kat Spears returns with this explosive coming of age story that explores not only the labels put on us by society, but the labels we put on ourselves, and the work it takes to find out who we really are underneath all the lies.
My opinions and thoughts on this book:
Big city meets small town
Anonymity of the bunch meets the town
who knows everyone.
What pulled me into reading this was the
awesome description. It was like when you watch the movie Footloose and this guy moves into a town that is completely
different from his normal environment.
The more you read this book the more you want to know what happens and
it lures you in slowly but surely like a snake. There are no words capable to
express how relatable it is to people who move somewhere where the routine is
the opposite to what it would normally be!
I just loved it so, so, soooooooo
MUCH!!!!It was so captivating and it made you feel anything and everything. You feel compassion towards the protagonist but he also frustrates you; You want him to notice the signs and not be so naïve and ughhhhh! I just love it so much!
From Breakway to The Boy who killed Grant Parker, Kat Spears amazes you once again
with her incredible titles.
One
thing is… THaT ENdInG got me to alternate the pages like a freaking maniac! I
kept re-reading it over and over again just to check if it really ended like
that.
KAT
SPEARS, I HOPE THERE IS A SEQUEL COMING
I WOULD RECCOMEND THIS TO ALL OF THOSE WHO LOVE KAT SPEARS LIKE ME
QOTD: Would you read this?
